TOM ALEXANDER, Jr.
Tom Alexander Jr. is a dynamic leader in education, blending over two decades of military service with a deep commitment to academic excellence and equity. After serving 21 years as an active duty U.S. Army officer, Tom transitioned into education in 2014, bringing with him a wealth of leadership experience and a passion for student success.
He holds an Ed.D. from The George Washington University, a D.Min. from Virginia Theological Seminary, and an M.Ed. from Drury University. Tom is the author of two thought-provoking books: The Loving Administrator: A Guide to Reimagining School Leadership and A Black Male Treatise on Contentment: A Journey to Peace Beyond Understanding. His work has also been featured by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, including his impactful article Fit to Win: Diversifying the Educator Pipeline With Substitutes.
A sought-after speaker and facilitator, Tom has presented at major conferences such as the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE), the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, and the American Educational Research Association. His leadership was nationally recognized by K-12 Dive, naming him one of the “Rising Leaders: 10 Standout Assistant Principals and District Leaders You Should Know in 2024–25.”
